week 46 archive look: feeling the red

i feel like i always pull the same pieces from the archives. (just an observation. no judgment.) this outfit of archive pieces, though, was a "new" one. and that i wore it really did surprise me. the dress is a piece of clothing that i haven't touched since it was new. it is from the 219 rundholz dip collection. that i haven't worn anything from the 219 dip collection since a/w 2019/2020 i think has a great deal to do with the colourway that i settled on for that collection: red. red is one of my favourite colours, but i really have to feel the colour to wear it. i hesitate to predict that i will be pulling more from the 219 collection this a/w -- because of that need to feel the colour red to wear it and i can't always predict a lasting feeling for it -- but i am going to go ahead and predict that i will be pulling more often from the 219 collection this a/w. at the end of the day, it might just be this dress (i had forgotten how much i really loved it when i first got it). still.

i am wearing rundholz dip 123 (high tops), rundholz dip 219 (dress) and rundholz dip 215 (trousers).

september 2024 (weeks 36, 38 and 39) new looks: easy transition

first crop of new autumn/winter clothes. while i always like (love?) all my new rundholz dip clothes, i have found that favourites do emerge over the course of a season with them. i am already sensing some favourites among this first crop: the newspaper print coat and the suspender skirt. but in all honesty, with this first crop of new clothes, the gap between favourite status and just liking (just liking, hahaha!) a piece of clothing is very (very) narrow, barely a sliver.

except for the high top sneakers in photo nos. 5 and 6 (which are rundholz dip 123), i am wearing rundholz dip 224.

week 29 new looks: a skirt

i can't decide if i prefer balloon (or wide cut) skirts or narrow (fishtail) skirts. maybe it depends on my mood.

week 25 archive looks: what there is

i searched through my archive of rundholz dip spring/summer clothing for all the grey pieces. i don't have many and most are from the 119 collection. but for these two, which are from the 116 collection. if it's possible, i think i like this outfit more than ever. sometimes when i wear clothes from my rundholz dip archive, i wish i had gotten more pieces from one collection or another. i always remind myself that i wasn't always as obsessed with rundholz dip as i am today and that i wasn't missing out on anything at the time the collection came out and was getting from it what i could and wanted (at the time -- i was enjoying other clothing along with rundholz dip). being now so obsessed with rundholz dip, i am grateful (even privileged) to have the rundholz dip archive that i do have.

i am wearing rundholz dip 124 (sneakers) and 116 (top/tunic and trousers).

week 24 new looks: dress week

it was all about the dress this week. not only did i wear a few different dresses already in my possession, but also i purchased a new one (after it went on sale) that i am not one hundred percent sure will work on me but that i am one hundred percent sure i want to work on me. i will find out the results of this sales purchase in a few days. keeping my fingers crossed for a good outcome.

week 23 new looks: just conceptual or also wearable

about some outfits (or individual pieces of clothing) i have this question: are they just conceptual? or are they also wearable? are they just for show? or can they actually be worn? i am often drawn to concept outfits (pieces of clothing), but when i acquire them and learn that they are only that, that it is not possible to wear them (realistically) on any occasion in my life,  my utilitarian side chides me something awful.

week 22 new looks: still their way and my way

after many years of consciously getting dressed, i continue to marvel at the experience of putting on an outfit and just feeling so right in it. if only i could discover the secret of what leads to the experience. but it continues to elude me. on another note, i never imagined that i would try "slip dressing". granted, it is my way of "slip dressing", which, held up against the standard of "slip dressing", may not even be recognized as such. no matter. i am calling it "slip dressing". and i am pleased with it.

week 21 new looks: planning and winging it

sometimes i plan what i am going to wear. i mull over a few options, thinking about things like the weather, the occasion and my "clothing mood" at the time (i.e., pants, skirts, casual, more dressed up, etc.). i may even do a dress rehearsal with a few outfits. other times, i just wing it. i pull something out of the closet, put it on, do a mirror check and go. i don't know whether one approach to getting dressed is better than the other. because both have led to successes and failures. and i am not sure that one approach is associated with more successes (than failures) than the other -- i haven't done any kind of systematic check. in any event, this past week i resorted to both approaches to getting dressed. the planning approach resulted in a successful outfit. the wing it approach gave me a failure.
