work it skirt
the dress that i am wearing here is one of my favourites. i bought two different versions of this dress this past summer and those two dresses were my go to pieces during that summer (worn alone obviously). as autumn approached, i acquired a third version of the dress and looked forward to wearing the dress layered over (and under) other pieces. i quickly paired the dress with a shirt underneath (and a wide-body pullover over top) ... to my satisfaction. but, while i saw the dress paired with a variety of different skirts, none of these pairings called out to me and i struggled to settle on a skirt that i would be happy pairing with the dress. until something made me try the dress with the skirt that i am wearing here. cue the trumpets.
i am wearing the alpen top, the brasilia dress, the scarf sweater, the escape skirt and the tokyo hat (with an added flower pin) by kaliyana. my boots are the noon boot (box collection) by trippen.

letting go is difficult pullover
piling on the woollen layers (in response to a true need to do so) has this strange side effect. even when the need subsides, it seems to continue. (that is, when it warms up outside (to a point where, before you piled on the woollen layers for the first time, you would not have dreamt of pulling any woollen layers on), it feels as if it never warmed up at all.) so whereas before layering weather, an outfit like this would have seemed fine and warm enough, post layering weather, an outfit like this seems like underdressing ... in the face of the exact same external temperature.
i am wearing the alpen top, the tokyo hat (with an added flower pin) and the escape skirt by kaliyana. my pullover is by moyuru and my coat is rundholz black label. i am wearing the noon boot (box collection) by trippen.

lessons learned pullover
in some ways, when it comes to personal presentation, i am very stubborn. some lessons i have to be taught over and over again. i wonder if there will ever come a time when i will know it all? something tells me not. and, to tell the truth, i am not sure that i ever want to know it all. deep down, i am a life long learner.
i am wearing the alpen top and the tokyo hat (with an added flower pin) by kaliyana. my dress and trousers are by grizas and my pullover is rundholz (black label). i am wearing the rectangle boot (closed collection) by trippen.

bundling knitwear
so far this winter (granted, winter is still relatively young, officially speaking), there have not been many occasions on which to layer on the knitwear, the woollen knitwear. in fact, this day presented only the second occasion this winter on which to layer on the knitwear ... and to layer it on thick. looking back to last autumn/winter, by the time we were at the same place where we are at now, swaddling up was de rigueuer, if one's survival was considered fashionable. so, last autumn/winter, by now, most everyone, myself included, was tired of woollen layers. this year, by contrast, bundling up in layers and layers of wool is still new and exciting. my hope is that this feeling lasts ... at least to the official end of winter.
