week 50 new looks: sweatshirts, the top ten list and saying farewell to dress codes

some observations from this week. i adore sweatshirts and find it hard to get just one as a match for a pair of sweatpants. i think i have at least four sweatshirts (it could actually be six) for the pair of sweatpants that i am wearing here (even though i am not wearing them with a sweatshirt here). that said, i am not sure that i would put sweatshirts or sweatpants on my list of top ten items of clothing -- i will have to think about it. but two things that i will put on that list are hoodies (any kind, not just the original sweatshirt hoodie) and suspender skirts/pants. and, on the subject of sweatpants, sweatshirts and hoodies, i hear that many office workplaces are parting company with the dress code. in celebration of this development, the last outfit i am wearing here is my attempt at dressing up sweatpants. not sure that i would wear this to the office -- not sure that i wouldn't be called out for wearing this, the abolishment of dress codes notwithstanding. but i have always been different when it comes to dressing for the office, so maybe i would wear this to the office -- i am sure that, from the perspective of some others, this sweatpants outfit might be judged as more office appropriate than some of the other outfits that i have worn to the office (for example, the suspender skirt outfit that i am wearing here). well, that's it for this week. until next week. and as one of my dance instructors says, "you do you boo boo!" (i know i will continue to do me!)

week 48 archive looks: never met a jumpsuit that i didn't like

if i had to list my top ten items of clothing, the jumpsuit (or boiler suit or overall or whatever you want to call it) would definitely be on that list.

week 49 new looks: on your mark, get set and go

it is sales time! so i am filling in some gaps. and thinking about gifting myself something "outside the box". in the meantime, continuing to enjoy pieces from the 223 dip collection that i bought not on sale.

week 48 new looks: complete but still hoping to add

one of my favourites from the 223 dip collection: the jumpsuit. the only thing that would have made it better: if it had been available in khaki. i have pretty much assembled my 223 collection. a few pieces remain on my wish list. things that i will probably wait to buy on sale (fingers crossed). one mistake i continue to make in assembling my collection (each season, but particularly in the fall/winter) is not buying accessories early in the season. i always wait to the end of my buying to get accessories, so i usually end up without all of the accessories that i want. going to work hard not to make this mistake next time.

weeks 44 to 46 new looks: trying and i should have worn the other boots

trying to be more relaxed about dressing. again. if i keep trying, i am sure that, one day, i will succeed. {this is an example of not being relaxed: thinking that i should have worn the other boots with one of these outfits. like i said, trying.)

week 43 archive looks: overthinking? or not overthinking?

i may be getting to the point where i don't overthink what i am wearing. of course, now that i have said this "out loud", i will probably have some sort of clothing crisis. i feel like i alternate between moments of calm -- like what i just said i may be approaching -- and moments of chaos -- clothing crises. the past few years in particular have seen more than a few moves from chaos to calm and back again. where i would like to be more or less permanently is that state of calm (not overthinking -- just dressing and enjoying the clothes). wonder if that is possible for me. it would be nice.

week 42 archive looks: what feels right in the moment

when i reach into the archives, it is for what feels right in the moment. waiting for the moment when something from rundholz dip 219 will feel right. in my mind, it is an unique collection in my archives. requiring a mood that i obviously haven't been in since it was new.

week 41 new looks: one colour plus different fabrics equals different colours

i have been told that different fabrics hold dyes differently. i elected to go with khaki as my colour in the rundholz dip collection this autumn/winter. unlike any other time that i have done the monochromatic thing with the collection (which is pretty much every time i have acquired items from the collection since i was first introduced to it many years ago), this time i am finding many more variations of my chosen colour. not a complaint, just a statement of fact. a little difficult for a monochromatic purist like myself to deal with. but i will make the best of it.

week 38 archive looks: here we go again

it's here! and, for me, truly, it is the most wonderful time of the year. fall. autumn. beginning some new adventures this fall. and, as far as clothes go, i am hopeful that i will finally achieve a goal that i set for myself (i want to say a few seasons ago) -- being more minimalist, deliberate and thoughtful in my selections. i have had a few false starts in achieving this goal, but i never gave up on it.

i am wearing rundholz dip 214 (dress), rundholz 216 (boots), rundholz dip 220 (top, trousers, overalls and jackets) and rundholz dip 123 (sneaker boots). 

week 37 new looks: 219 feels

this may be 123, but it was giving me 219 feels. on a 223 note, i have been feeling somewhat wistful the past few days having missed out on getting some new trousers and jackets that i had been coveting. i would have even settled for one pair of trousers and one of the jackets (matching the trousers of course). not the first time i have had this experience. and it certainly won't be the last. and most of the time it turns out to be for the best.

week 34 archive looks: not all equal

i adore rundholz dip ... obviously. but among the rundholz dip collections from which i have been lucky enough to acquire pieces over the years, i have my favourites. there are also favourites pieces. not always coming from favourite collections. wearing one of my favourite pieces here -- the dress. (it also happens to be one of my earliest purchases.)

i am wearing rundholz dip 115 (dress), rundholz dip 120 (top, net dress, hoodie and trousers), rundholz mainline 121 (shoes) and rundholz dip 123 (high top sneakers).

week 34 new looks: 5 seconds

sometimes a new outfit only lasts about 5 seconds on my body before i manage to get food or drink on it. (usually yogourt, chocolate, jam, blackberries or some food with oil in it -- pasta with tomato sauce or dressed salad. occasionally, i spill tea.) usually, the lighter in colour the outfit is, the greater the chances of this happening -- perhaps this is why i have come to prefer dark coloured clothing. this week, though, it was the darker coloured clothing that became magnets for misfortune. a dark green jumper was one of this week's victims. some black clothing were this week's other victims -- although they weren't subjected to a food or drink attack, rather they were caught in a downpour (the clothing survived, but the shoes that i was wearing may not make it -- they are still being cared for). it really was not such a good week for my wardrobe.

week 32 new looks: just sigh

i know this is completely out of the blue (sorry!), but i really love rundholz dip. staying away from it this spring/summer season until very recently made this very apparent for me. i have been trying to figure out what it is about the line that i find so attractive. so far, all i have been able to come up with is what i see as the line's focus on design of clothes. not that the other two lines don't showcase design, but they seem to couple design with patterns and prints that follow some story line. i think the focus on design really appeals to me. it makes it easier to use personal styling to tell a story. and the same clothes can tell different stories. when prints/patterns are used on clothes to tell a story, while it is not impossible, it is harder to have those clothes tell a different story than those emblazoned on them. anyways, still thinking about this. but, suffice it to say that, for the upcoming autumn/winter season, i will be back to mostly (if not all) rundholz dip.

week 31 new looks: bright lights one at a time

for a few minutes, i thought that i could put on an outfit of mixed colours. an orange top, red pants and an aqua jacket. or even just an orange romper and an aqua jacket -- two colours as opposed to three. but i could not. i felt so uncomfortable. so not me. so, yep, i am definitely a monochromatic dresser.

week 28 new looks: oh yes i did

i gave in to my love for it -- it being rundholz dip -- and acquired a few pieces from the line's spring/summer collection. as far as new clothing goes, after wearing only rundholz (mainline) for three months straight, putting on some rundholz dip made me realize just how much i love the line. how at home and comfortable i feel in it. looking forward to returning to the line as my principal residence (as it were) this upcoming autumn/winter.

i honestly thought it would be some time (certainly much more than three years) before i would wear anything from the spring/summer 2020 collections. but the browns were calling to me this week and the only spring/summer browns that i have are from the rundholz dip collection for spring/summer 2020. so ...
