the cool top
this top is definitely too cool for now. but i just couldn't help myself. plus, i figured if i put enough layers on top, i would be alright. it worked. plus, it reminded me that summer will come ... eventually.

honeycomb pullover
i have been doing a lot of shopping lately for spring/summer clothing. all rundholz. so far. i am so loving expanding my rundholz collection. not so much for the new pieces that are coming into the collection. (although, who am i kidding, some of the new pieces are sweet because they are unlike anything that i have ever had before.) but more so because of the new opportunities for reviving old pieces that those new pieces bring with them. teaser: some of those new pieces (and some of those new/old mixes) are coming to the blog soon ... real soon ... like at the end of this week! in the meantime, here's a kaliyana mix.

skirt girl skirt
my outfits are rarely spur of the moment in this sense. i don't put them together immediately before i wear them. no, they are usually thought out some time in advance. my outfits are spur of the moment in this sense. while i have several planned out outfits in stock, which one i end up wearing on any particular day is usually determined on the morning of that particular day. usually, immediately after i wake up, an outfit just bubbles up from my subconscious mind as being right for that day. over the years, i have learned to go with that outfit. if i talk myself out of going with that outfit, i usually end up regretting it. sometimes, if i go with an outfit other than my "first choice" outfit, at some point in the day, i may even change back into my "first choice" outfit. it never ceases to amaze me how organic the process of getting dressed is for me -- once i have done a little planning of course. now here is a little confession on the planning bit: it isn't always done entirely on my own. sometimes, i have some help. sometimes, someone helps me to style a particular outfit. everyone needs a little help now and again. in the case of this outfit ... thanks, s~.

wrapped in warmth top
a couple of weekends ago, after at least two years of feeling on and off twinges of it being "time to move on", i finally parted company with a label.* it felt soooo good! a weight lifted off my shoulders. it wasn't that there was (or is) anything wrong with the label ... objectively. it was (and is) simply that i have changed and the label just can't speak for me anymore ... no matter how much i may want it to and tried to make it so. the day after i rid my closet of the label, something happened that, on some cosmic level, signalled to me that i had made the right decision and taken the right step. what was that something? it was one of those emails that finds its way into your inbox from some retailer that purports to give you friendly advice on how to better your life. this particular email talked about the importance of pruning your garden and how that idea could translate to a person's life. the advice here: it is necessary to "prune" your life to make space for what is truly important to you. saying no to something less important is saying yes to your highest values. so an inconsequential label is now out of my life, allowing me to focus on labels that are more reflective of who i am.
*to set things straight, i am not talking about the label that i am wearing here. i am also not talking about rundholz -- those particular relationships are going strong.

paint splatters shirt
early spring is weird. you take layers off, because you don't need as many for your indoor life. but you also put layers back on, because you need more layers for your outdoor life if you want to give up your winter coats.
i am wearing the architect shirt, the wing top, the (woollen) square jacket, the seville pant, the left bank jacket and the tokyo hat (with added flower pin) by kaliyana. my boots are the noon boot (box collection) by trippen.
