the other day, i was watching one of those "bonus features" that always seems to be included on a dvd of a major motion picture: "the making of" or "behind the scenes of" [insert name of major motion picture]. in this particular version of "the making of", i was struck by the revelation that there was a perceived need to go to great lengths to keep the wardrobe under wraps during filming. having viewed the motion picture, with its very ordinary wardrobe, prior to viewing "the making of" said motion picture, i couldn't understand the need for the over-the-top secrecy. except perhaps for all those grey neckties.

the best way to get me to wear something into a particular work environment is to suggest that it might not be appropriate for that work environment. i take that to be a challenge.

(three of) four jackets and a skirt

one day i was trying to figure out which one of four jackets worked best with my ball skirt. i decided that i didn't need to decide. that all four jackets worked well. each one in its own way. here, i am wearing the third of four jackets.

choices pullover

recently, i was fortunate enough to snag two cropped cardis by skif. neither was a black one. some time after these acquisitions, i went in search of a black cropped sweater by skif. i had wanted a cardi, but i wasn't going to be too picky -- a pullover would work just as well. the pullover that i am wearing here is what i came away with. not black, but i like it just the same. by way of useless information, i walked away from a cropped, wide body cardi that was tan with grey polka dots and a wine coloured a-line cropped pullover. sigh.

whenever i visit the kaliyana bricks and mortar shop in the city where i live, i stop by the adjacent outlet shop. usually, the outlet shop has more coloured than black clothing and as i don't wear much coloured clothing these days, i usually have no luck with finding anything for myself in the outlet shop. but every once in awhile, i luck out and manage to snag something. the jacket that i am wearing here is a case in point. (so, incidentally, was the jacket that i was wearing with this same skirt and top a few posts ago.)

the entire time that mad men was airing, i never once tuned in. notwithstanding that i was, certainly at the time that it began airing, into dressing like some of the mad men women (i remember being "accosted" on the street with the comment, "wow, you look like you are from mad men!"). sometime near the beginning of this year, i decided that i wanted to find out what all the fuss was about. so, for the past few months, every weekend when i haven't had any plans outside my home, i have been binge watching mad men. now i know what all the fuss was about. next i think that i will have to delve into boardwalk empire.

lost and found jacket

what are some "setbacks" that a blogger might have to face? here is one that i had to face recently: her computer biting the big one, causing her, not only to lose some photos that she liked, but also to be unable to, well, blog (no access to the web, no access to her blog, etc.). but everything is fine now (for the moment).
