sometimes no. 4

having entered the home stretch of winter, with no sign of the cold winter weather letting up, i can't overstate how tired i am of this winter. and being tired of this winter, i really feel the cold ... more than i normally would. and feeling the cold as much as i am, i want to wear nothing but layers of wool and plaid, my idea of perfect winter attire. so here i am indulging in some perfect winter attire (from years past).

photo no. 1: i am wearing an old navy shirt with an h&m tie, a jacket by susan harris design, a bustle skirt by bunny and pear and hue jeggings. my boots are the buxton boot (swordfish family) by john fluevog.

photo nos. 2 to 5: here i am wearing an outfit with enough layers to keep me warm in the coldest parts of the building where i work, just the number of layers necessary to keep me comfortably dressed in the most over-heated parts of the building where i work and everything in between: a gap shirt with an h&m tie, a woollen shrug and vest by paper people clothing, a jacket and skirt from h&m and hue jeggings. my boots are the surrealist pizza boot (swordfish family) by john fluevog.

photo nos. 6 and 7: i am wearing a shirt from urban outfitters with an h&m tie, a woollen shrug by paper people clothing, a vest by susan harris design, a skirt from h&m and hue jeggings. my boots are the malcolm boot (living family) by john fluevog.

photo nos. 8 and 9: sometimes i can wear the same piece of clothing numerous times before it attracts some comment (not, incidentally, that i wear the piece even once for the purposes of eliciting comments -- if you have been reading the blog for a while, even for a little while, you have probably picked up that i wear clothes for no other reason than to please myself and because i like them). case in point: this jacket. this outing of the jacket proved the jacket to be quite a conversation piece. particularly noteworthy were the crest on the front and the number on the back.

photo nos. 10 and 11: with the exception of the cardi, everything that i am wearing here is old. the cardi is from the most recent preloved a/w collection. i had no idea, when i was buying the cardi, that it would one of my last preloved purchases. preloved recently shut its retail doors, opting to go wholesale. just as i have decided to turn away from the mass market in favour of small-scale independent (and even local) designers. i wonder if it is true that when one door closes another door opens. i guess i will find out.

i am not lopsided top

this is the time of year that i start anticipating the appearance of the spring/summer collections of the designers that i like. since most (if not all) of these designers "march to the beat of their own drum", in terms of debuting these collections, i don't always know when i will be rewarded with views of the collections. so, every day, i eagerly check their websites. usually days and days of disappointment go by. then, one day, it happens. one collection appears. followed by another. and then another. it's like unwrapping a gift each and every time.

i am wearing the alpen top (a/w helsinki collection), the woollen longside top (a/w 2012 outlet), the honolulu skirt (a/w 2013) and the tokyo hat (a/w nagano collection) by kaliyana. my boots are the rider boot (closed collection) by trippen.

getting better at it hat

i think that i am getting better at wearing the new hat. and, maybe, i am getting better at wearing pants too!

i am wearing the action top (a/w 2013), the pelican top (a/w 2013), the cool pant (a/w nagano collection) and the tokyo hat (a/w nagano collection) by kaliyana. my boots are the onion boot (closed collection) by trippen.
