The Dolman Sleeve Top

The knee-length pleated skirt that I wore on Tuesday and the accordion pleated long skirt and the dolman sleeve top that I wore yesterday all came from the same place.  (Some of the clothes that I wore last week -- the lace top dress and the blouse and petticoat that I wore underneath the dress -- also came from this place.)  It is a place that I have been aware of for some time now.  However, until last year, I had never really shopped at this place.  Its marketing always made me think that its clothing was not for me and what I think of as my demure and modest sense of style.  Yesterday morning, as I was getting dressed, I thought how funny it is that clothing that isn't marketed as being worn in a demure and modest way is being worn in a demure and modest way.  I love it that the same clothing can be worn in diametrically opposed ways.

The top is dreamy! I also like the draped jacket very much.

I don't know how you feel wearing long skirts, but I prefer to see you in shorter ones (mid-calf, knee length). Somehow I have a sense that loooooooong skirt eat your fragile body frame up, swallow it.

When I read your comment, Iz bakinog ormara, my immediate response was, "Oh dear!" While for the better part of my life I have preferred shorter skirt/dress lengths, every once in a while I go through a long skirt/dress phase. Usually this occurs during the dead of Winter and doesn't last long -- it's a survival thing. But sometimes it occurs at other times and lasts a bit longer. I am definitely going through a long skirt/dress phase right now. While I know that I won't be wearing long skirts/dresses exclusively as I make my way through this phase, you will definitely see me in more long skirts/dresses than I have worn since starting this blog. For better or worse, I have to go through this.
